7th grade students are discussing the contemporary London-based artist duo, Kai & Sunny. They take inspiration from the natural world and the patterns and forms it manifests. We also discussed connections that their work has to the Op Art movement in the 1960's. Their works on paper are created using colored ballpoint pens, building up images of dizzying, geometric complexity out of single lines. Our class will learn about how to create works that are radially symmetrical by drawing supplementary angle pairs with a protractor, line and and color. We are all very excited to use our mathematical and artistic abilities to take on this challenge!
