Catherine Jenna Hendry, known as CJ Hendry, is a contemporary Australian artist known for hyper-realistic, large-scale renderings of luxury objects using a self-developed scribbling technique. She uses photographs with edited saturated lighting, a ruler and a pen as a guide for their placement. Our 8th grade students are exploring a similar process, as we have taken photos of crushed paint samples, edited them to accentuate highlights and shadows, and used them for reference throughout our artmaking process. Our pieces, although small, are incredibly detailed and require a whole new level of focus with the use of colored pencils. We are enjoying this challenge and are excited to see our finished product!
