6ath grade students have been leading discussions about the work of Ghanaian sculptor, El Anatsui. He has gained international attention from his 'bottle cap' installations. These large scale assemblages are created with thousands of waste materials found within his community, by members of his community. Our students discussed the connections that can be made with these selected materials and strived to make connections with the materials they chose to use in their own work. 6th graders are excited to work together on this collaborative installation, manipulating, experimenting, and transforming items to make something incredible!
